Ann Withorn

Ann Withorn received her Ph.D., in Social Welfare from Brandeis University. She has been teaching undergraduate courses in social policy, social movements, women's, and welfare rights issues, since 1977 at the College of Public and Community Service at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. She also teaches in the Public Policy Ph.D., program and the Masters in Human Service Program at UMass Boston. Ann is actively involved in research, writing, and advocacy, involving poverty and social policy issues. She is currently writing a book about the history of the College of Public and Community Service at UMass Boston. Among many other social concerns, Ann has a strong investment in mentoring young adults in her areas of expertise to become successful leaders in addressing topics of social instability.
